Alleged Islamic State members kill seven and injure five in a village in Khanaqin

Gunmen killed seven persons and injured another five in a Kaka’i village in Khanqin, Diyala.

The security sources claim that the attack was carried out by the Islamic State remnants (IS) at 1:30 a.m. today, June 14, 2020 in Kaka’i Dara village in Khanaqin.

A data that KirkukNow obtained from the security and medical sources shows that two members of the Iraqi forces and another five civilians were killed.

The other five persons who were injured are civilians and members of the Iraqi forces.

The sources told KirkukNow only from a family, a father and two of his sons were killed and another two individuals of the family are among the five injured persons.

In the beginning of the attack, only two persons were killed. However, when the villagers wanted to rescue them, they were ambushed by the gunmen, who killed another five persons.

In recent weeks, a series of attacks have been carried out in the different areas of Khanaqin district, Dilaya. On May 10, another Kaka’i village, Mikhas, was raided and two persons were killed.
