The Television Reporting “TV Reportage” booklet has been officially published and distributed—free of charge—to faculty members and students in media departments at both public and private universities across Erbil.

The Kurdish edition of the booklet was produced through a collaboration between KirkukNow Media Outlet and the France Médias Monde Academy, with support from the French Embassy in Baghdad.

As part of the same project, 25 educational videos—created by Iraqi academics and journalists involved in the program—were also subtitled in Kurdish.

The booklet and accompanying videos were presented during two separate events on Wednesday, December 3. Students and instructors from the media departments of the University of Kurdistan–Erbil and Erbil Polytechnic University attended, alongside representatives of the France Médias Monde Academy and the French Institute in Baghdad.

Shorish Khalid, the Editor-in-Chief of KirkukNow, said that both resources were offered free of charge thanks to KirkukNow’s work in translating the material.

He noted that the pedagogical videos are currently available on the France Médias Monde YouTube channel and will soon be hosted in a dedicated section on the KirkukNow website.

In the booklet’s introduction, Antoine Corméry, Director of the France Médias Monde Academy, explained that the goal of TV Reportage (Story for TV) is to provide guidance for anyone interested in entering the field.

He emphasized that the booklet complements the Academy’s educational video series, produced with support from the French Embassy in Baghdad and in cooperation with professors from the University of Baghdad’s College of Media and journalists from the Iraqi Media Network.

In his own introduction, Shorish Khalid wrote that television reporting helps satisfy audiences’ need for accurate information and offers clarity about developments around them, enabling them to make informed decisions.

Khalid expressed gratitude to the French Embassy, France Médias Monde Academy, and the initiative’s Iraqi partners, acknowledging their role in making the Kurdish-language publication possible.

He added that discussions are underway with France Médias Monde Academy to expand these launch events to media colleges and departments at additional universities across the Kurdistan Region so more students can benefit.
