Four Coronavirus cases confirmed in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region

Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced the confirmation of four coronavirus cases in the city.

According to a statement the ministry published today, March 1, 2020, 24 people, who were suspected of being infected by the virus, were tested. Four of them who are from the city of Sulaymaniyah were tested positive.

Three of the infected persons are from a family, and the other is a woman. All of them traveled to Iran and were quarantined after coming back to the Kurdistan Region. The ministry further stated that their health conditions are stable.

The ministry asked people to follow the instructions and the decisions KRG including the Ministry of Interior and Health.

These cases are the first recorded cases in the Kurdistan Region.

At the same time, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced two other confirmed cases in the city of Baghdad.

Earlier, 13 cases were confirmed in Iraq, and five of them were in the city of Kirkuk.

The number of confirmed cases increases to 19 cases nationwide.
