One of the Kirkuk Police Chief's assistants was arrested for using an unidentified SIM card and threatening and abusing other officers within the directorate, according to sources within the Kirkuk Police Directorate who spoke to KirkukNow

On Monday, July 7th, an arrest warrant was issued for one of the assistants of the Kirkuk Police Chief, following an investigation by the National Security Service that had been ongoing for several months.

A source within the police directorate revealed that the assistant had conflicts with three officers. While he resolved issues with two of them through tribal reconciliation, problems with the third officer remained unresolved.

The source explained, "After some time, the third officer received threatening and abusive calls from an unknown SIM card."

Subsequently, the threatened officer filed a complaint, leading to an investigation by the National Security Service (NSS).

Another anonymous source disclosed to KirkukNow that during the NSS investigation, it was discovered that the threatening calls were made using the deputy police chief's phone.

The source mentioned that the deputy police chief was detained under Article 430 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which pertains to cases of electronic blackmail.

Article 430 states that individuals who threaten others with committing a felony, causing harm, or dishonoring them or their family members can face imprisonment for up to seven years.

Kirkuk police spokesman Amer Nouri Shawani clarified to KirkukNow that the situation did not result in an arrest, but administrative actions were being taken against the assistant. He declined to provide further details about the case.
